Wild Roots Sessions

At both of our Grass Roots nursery settings we have access to outdoor spaces and allotments which allow us to run our “Wild Roots” sessions. These are outdoor learning sessions that foster personal growth and curiosity through hands-on experiences such as den building, tool use and growing our own produce. We plan around children’s interests to provide a range of activities which teach teamwork, independence, resilience and critical thinking.

During Wild Roots sessions children connect with nature, learning to appreciate and respect the environment through direct interactions such as wildlife observations, habitat building and witnessing seasonal changes. The natural environment fosters emotional growth by encouraging self-regulation and responsible risk-taking. Wild Roots grant children the freedom to choose how to engage with their surroundings, allowing children to act out scenarios, explore new ideas, role-play and problem-solve in imaginative ways.

The aim of Wild Roots is to nurture confident, inquisitive learners who are deeply connected to their world.
