BASIC BREAD DOUGH

500g strong bread flour - white, seeded, wholemeal

7g instant yeast ( one sachet)

300ml warm water

2 tbsp oil

Pinch salt


● Mix all ingredients together to form a dough

and knead for 5 mins until dough is nice and

smooth and glossy

● Put dough ball in an oiled bowl and cover with a

warm damp tea towel or loosely with cling film,

allow to prove for 45 mins ( or until the dough

has doubled in size)

● Remove from bowl onto a lightly floured

surface, knead for a further 2mins

● Divide into rolls, or leave as a loaf if preferred.

● Line a tray with greaseproof paper, put bread

on the baking sheet and leave for around 15

mins

● Place bread in a hot oven( gas mk6/200 deg)

and bake until golden brown. The base of the

bread should sound hollow when it's done.
