Welcome

We would like to welcome you and your child to Grass Roots. This is a very important time in your child’s life both educationally and socially. We will provide a happy, friendly, stimulating and positive environment where your child can reach their full potential.

We are a family run setting with a passion and drive for providing excellent childcare. We like curiosity led learning and development, where children have the freedom to explore and learn within a safe, secure and inviting environment. Our team are friendly, professional and passionate about the care and learning opportunities given to our children. We like to think outside the box whilst providing stimulating activities which are centred around each child's interests.

On this website we provide basic information about our nursery. Visits by parents are welcome and encouraged and staff are happy to discuss any particular queries you might have, all we ask is for you to bring a form of photo ID with you. We appreciate your interest and feedback is always welcome.

We are registered with Ofsted, and both Calderdale Early Years’ Service who provide advice and support allowing us to monitor your child’s development enabling us to maintain a high quality setting.

Our nursery setting is open to every family in the community as we believe that no child, individual or family should be excluded from the group on the grounds of age, gender, sexuality, class, family status, means, disability, colour ethnic origin, culture, religion or belief.

Aims and Objectives for Children

The overall aim is to create a warm, welcoming and homely environment in which children across the age ranges can feel comfortable and safe, allowing them to thrive and grow in confidence. Working in conjunction with parents, carers, families and other appropriate groups we will focus on the children’s personal, social and emotional development when planning our curriculum and activities.

Children attending the setting will be safe, cared for and stimulated in an efficient, well maintained and above all homely environment. We will promote a healthy understanding and respect for natural values in all aspects of the setting.

Above all, we want children to leave our setting with the confidence and skills to help them meet the challenges that lie ahead in the school system and beyond. Our programme of care and education will aim to achieve the following key outcomes for our children:

  • To encourage language and communication with other children and adults.

  • To encourage each child with sharing and being part of a group.

  • To offer each child the most suitable stimuli for their stage of development.

  • To encourage each child to persevere, without fearing being wrong.

  • To encourage each child to be kind and compassionate to others.

  • To encourage children to control their emotions and learn to express themselves appropriately.

  • To allow each child to learn through fun and pleasurable activities.

We passionately believe this to be a joint effort between the setting and parents/carers and to that end we will promote the right environment for that partnership to succeed.
